At the age of 34, Matt's life took an unexpected turn following a motocross accident that left him with a broken femur.

Enduring over three years of a challenging and painful recovery, he found himself facing spine damage with no relief in sight. Frustrated by the lack of help from conventional approaches and being told to accept his new normal, Matt stumbled upon the incredible world of barefoot living.

To his surprise, embracing a barefoot lifestyle not only contributed to his recovery but opened up a world of possibilities.

Within months, he found himself accomplishing feats he thought were forever out of reach, from effortlessly leaping over his Otto bin to completing a 14km race in the City to Surf event just eight weeks later. This journey of personal transformation illuminated the often-overlooked importance of our feet as the foundation for overall well-being.

Realising that not a single expert had considered the role of his feet in his recovery, Matt felt a deep calling to share his newfound wisdom with the world. This realisation became the catalyst for the birth of Barefooters, a brand that goes beyond just footwear – it's a celebration of the incredible impact that understanding and caring for our feet can have on our lives.

Barefooters didn't merely become a business for Matt; it chose him.
